Lok Sabha adjourned till 2:00 PM following opposition uproar on General Budget 2026-27

Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 2:00 PM following opposition’s uproar on various issues. When the House assembled at 12 noon, after the first adjournment, the concerned Ministers laid the papers related to their Ministries. After that presiding officer P C Mohan tried to take up discussion on General Budget 2026-27, but the opposition members continued with their sloganeering. The Chair urged the protesting members to take part in the discussion and allow the House to function.

Intervening, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju urged the opposition members to allow the proceedings of the House, as the precious time of Parliament is being lost due to the disruption. He alleged that opposition members deliberately come to the Well of the House to create ruckus. Mr Rijiju appealed to the protesting members not to lower the dignity of the House and allow discussion on the Budget.

Despite the appeal from the presiding officer and Minister, the opposition members continued with their protest resulting in the adjournment of the House till 2:00 PM.

Earlier, when the Lok Sabha assembled for the day, the presiding officer P C Mohan tried to take up Question Hour but the opposition members including Congress, TMC and DMK among others trooped into the well and started sloganeering. He appealed to them to allow the House to function and take up Question Hour.

 

Amidst the noisy scene, Minister of State for Animal Husbandry and Dairying, S P Singh Baghel tried to answer the Question related to Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund, but he could not complete his reply due to disruption in proceedings. As the pandemonium continued, the Presiding Officer adjourned the House till 12 noon.
