Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari filed a contempt case at the Calcutta High Court against the Speaker of West Bengal Legislative Assembly Biman Bandopadhyay on the issue of the Chief Minister’s entry to the West Bengal Assembly with security guards. The single bench of Justice Amrita Sinha is likely to hear the case today.
Earlier, the Speaker had issued an order which said MLAs and ministers could not enter the Bidhan Sabha with security personnel. However, reports say that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been allowed to enter the Bidhan Sabha with security guards, prompting Suvendu Adhikari to approach the High Court.
