India’s ace shuttler Lakshya Sen defeated Japan’s Nishimoto Kenta to reach the Men’s Singles quarter-finals of the India Open Badminton tournament in New Delhi today. Lakshya defeated Nishimoto in straight games 21-19, 21-10 in a Round of 16 match. Earlier, H. S.
Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth both lost in the Round of 16 matches to exit the tournament. Prannoy went down 21-18, 19-21, 14-21 to Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew, while Srikanth suffered a 14-21, 21-17, 17-21 defeat against French player Christo Popov. India’s challenge in women’s singles ended with Malvika Bansod losing 18-21, 15-21 to Chinese shuttler Han Yue.
