Ladakh Tourism Department Launches Holistic Homestay Support Framework

To uplift the community-based tourism in rural areas of Ladakh, the Tourism Department has started a new initiative for upskill the Homestay operators in the Union Territory. Tourism Secretary Sanjit Rodrigues formally launched the Holistic Homestay Support Framework at a function in Leh yesterday. Under this new initiative, the department has introduced a comprehensive 21-day training curriculum for operators of Home Stay owners, which is framed to upskill their operational skills. 
 
Sharing the objective of the newly launched initiative, Tourism Secretary Sanjit Rodrigues said the department will train all the homestay owners to promote responsible community-driven tourism as well as for conversion it as micro rural enterprise for employment generation. Holistic Home Stay Support Framework initiative is a part of major initiatives for the promotion of community-driven tourism through Homestay.
 
The Centre had earlier approved the creation of three clusters of homestays under the Pradhan Mantri Janjahyati Unnat Gram (PM-JUNGA). Under this scheme, 111 Home Stay   identified  in 19 villages of the three clusters will be developed.
