Ladakh to Host Month-Long Exposition of Lord Buddha’s Holy Relics, Starting May 1

Ladakh will organise a month-long Exposition of Holy Relics of Lord Buddha under the theme of “Peace in times of Conflict” from 1st May this year in Leh, marking a significant spiritual event coinciding with Buddha Purnima. It will be the second historic sacred Exposition of the Lord Buddha Relic in Ladakh, and the first was organised in 1950 for 79 days from May 24. The Union Territory administration, through Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra, headed the UT-level Coordination Committee and has started its preparation to ensure well-planned execution of the upcoming Spiritual event in the region.

The Union Territory Administration has decided to invite ambassadors of South East and Central Asian Countries and the Chief Ministers of Buddhist-majority states like Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh as dignitaries on the occasion of the inaugural ceremony on May 1. To create a spiritually elevating atmosphere across Ladakh before the arrival of the Lord Buddha Relic in Ladakh, a week-long of mass prayer at different Monasteries has been planned. Other spiritually significant events for holistic programs, such as interfaith Harmony Dialogue, Seminars and other religious teachings, have also been planned during the Exposition of Lord Buddha Relic.

Cleanliness Drive for a fortnight from 15 to 30 April by multiple agencies involving the Indian Army, ITBP, Ladakh Police, Municipal Committee and other stakeholders such as Ladakh Buddhist Association and All Ladakh Gonpa Association have planned significant preparation for the upcoming Buddha Relic Exposition in Ladakh.
