Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta launched REWA 2.O Scheme, a financial assistance to the meritorious aspirants of UPSC Civil Services Examinations of Ladakh in availing quality educational coaching and to provide a merit based scholarship. The scheme aims to attract talented candidates from the UT who can crack the civil services examinations, secure top government jobs and serve the nation.
Under this initiative, which was launched yesterday , Union Territory administration of Ladakh will provide a financial grant of 1.18 lakh rupees for each meritorious aspirant of the upcoming UPSC preliminary Examination in availing coaching by providing assistance in fees for coaching and accommodations for a period of six months.
A total of 80 meritorious candidates with equal representation of 40 aspirants from both Leh and Kargil district will be selected for the Scheme. To ensure inclusive in the selection of the beneficiaries of the scheme, administration has made a provision of ensuring at least one seat for a person with special needs from both districts.
Addressing the occasion, the LG said, this scheme will remove the financial barrier for Ladakh’s UPSC aspirants and will provide a level playing field to deserving candidates by covering coaching and accommodation expenses while enabling them to pursue training at reputed institutions of their choice across the country.
Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Bhanu Prabha, who presented details of criteria for this scheme, said candidates availing the financial assistance under REWA 2.O scheme must appear in the forthcoming UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination and the age of candidates should be from 21 to 36 years of age.
