Ladakh LG Kavinder Gupta Orders Calibrated Easing of Restrictions in Leh; DM Allows Reopening of Colleges

 
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, directed the officials of the Union Territory administration to ease certain restrictions in a calibrated manner in Leh district and ensured that peace and public order should be maintained in the city. The direction came yesterday following the high-level meeting of top-level officials of the administration and security agencies.
 
 
In the meeting, law and order, the situation of Leh  District, which is placed under section 163 of BNSS since   24 of last month due to violent protest,  has been discussed, and officials have highlighted that the overall Situation is in a improvements direction with positive public responses.  Lt Governor also assessed the essential services and appreciated the coordinated efforts of the district administration, police, and security agencies in maintaining harmony and normalcy across the region.
 
 
Lt Governor stressed the need for responsive and people-centric governance and also directed officials to maintain close engagement with local communities as well as address the grievances promptly at the grassroots level. Acknowledging the patience and resilience of the people of Ladakh,  Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta assured that the government remains fully committed to safeguarding their interests, improving their quality of life, and ensuring that every section of society benefits from the region’s development journey. Meanwhile, the district magistrate, Leh, has given more relaxation by allowing the reopening of colleges from today. With this relaxation,  all the formal educational institutions except  Universities and educational institutions have now started functioning fully after the protest, which led to their closure.  The Business Operation period within the jurisdiction of Leh district has also been extended from 6 pm to 8 pm.
