In the world-famous tourist town of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, the state government is developing unexplored tourist destinations in the Kullu district under its Eco-Tourism initiative. The Forest Department, Kullu Circle, has identified more than 16 eco-tourism sites. Out of these, five eco-tourism sites have been allotted through open auction, where tourist facilities are being provided on one hectare of forest land.

 

In Kullu district, sites such as Kais Dhar, Solang Nala, Kasol, Sumaropa and Kheerganga-Bindravani are generating an annual revenue of approximately Rs 1.5 crore for the Forest Department. In addition, nine more eco-tourism sites have also been identified.

 

The state government is developing these eco-tourism sites to strengthen the rural economy. This initiative will also create employment opportunities for local youth. The eco-tourism sites are being auctioned for a period of 10 years, which can be extended by up to five more years.
