Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, Special Assistant to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus at the Ministry of Home Affairs, has resigned from his post in Bangladesh. His resignation was accepted by the president and took effect immediately, according to a gazette notification issued on Wednesday night.
The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing confirmed the development, though no reason was disclosed. A former inspector general of police, Khuda Baksh Chowdhu,ry was appointed to the position on November 10, 2024.
His resignation comes amid growing criticism over the government’s handling of law and order, including demands from citizen groups for accountability following the killing of activist Sharif Osman bin Hadi and the mob lynching of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh over alleged blasphemy.
