Khelo India Youth Games: Rajasthan cyclists dominate, push state to 2nd spot in medal tally

In the Khelo India Youth Games, players of Rajasthan today made a clean sweep in the events of the Cycling Time Trial category. In the boys’ category in the 30 km race, all the medals went to Rajasthan players. Ram Avatar Chimp bagged Gold while Mahadeo Saran and Mahavir Saran clinched Silver and Bronze.

 

Similarly, in the girls’ category in 20 km cycling, Manju Chowdhary of Rajasthan snatched gold, and her co-statemate Rukmini bagged Bronze. The silver medal went to Jul Ganjam of Maharashtra.

 

In the girls’ category of badminton singles held at Bhagalpur, Tanu Chandra of Chhattisgarh bagged gold defeating Rishika Nandy of Delhi. Bronze went to Adhira Rajkumar of Tamil Nadu.

 

With today’s performance, Rajasthan pushed Karnataka behind and reached the second position with 35 medals, including 26 gold and 8 silver.

 

Maharashtra holds the number one position in medal tally with a haul of 89 medals, including 36 gold and 28 silver. Karnataka is in third with 44 medals, including 14 gold and 21 silver.

 

The Gymnastics events at the Khelo India Youth Games took place at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

 

In the Rhythmic Gymnastics Hoop Final, Parina from Maharashtra clinched the gold medal. This marks her fifth medal in the current edition of the Games. She has secured three gold and two silver medals so far. Rachael Deep from Delhi won the silver medal, while Maharashtra’s Devangi Harshal Pawar took home the bronze.

 

Speaking exclusively to Akashvani News, Parina dedicated her medals to her coach and family. She praised the Khelo India initiative and stated that it plays a vital role in helping athletes achieve their dreams.

 

In the Ball Gymnastics Final, Maharashtra’s Kimaya Karle emerged victorious with a gold medal. Parina narrowly missed out on gold in a close contest and settled for silver. Rachael Deep won the bronze medal in this category.

 

After the medal ceremony, Kimaya expressed her joy and said the medal would boost her confidence and motivate her to win international medals for the country.
