Khelo India Tribal Games underway in Chhattisgarh

In the Khelo India Tribal Games, underway in Chhattisgarh, hockey and football matches were held in Raipur on the sixth day today, while wrestling competitions took place in Ambikapur. Athletics events have also commenced in Jagdalpur from today.
 
In women’s hockey, Mizoram and Odisha have entered the final. In the first semi-final, Mizoram defeated Jharkhand by three goals to two in a closely contested match. In the second semi-final, Odisha outplayed Madhya Pradesh by eight goals to nil.
 
In men’s hockey, Jharkhand won the first semi-final, defeating Madhya Pradesh by eight goals to one to secure a place in the final.
 
In athletics at Jagdalpur, Maharashtra’s Govind Prakash Padekar won gold in the men’s 5000 metres race, while Nedi Nagi of Arunachal Pradesh secured gold in the women’s event.
 
In wrestling at Ambikapur, Neha Oraon of Jharkhand and Manisha Siddhi of Karnataka won gold in the women’s 53 kg and 76 kg categories, respectively. In men’s events, Mulayam Kharwar of Bihar clinched gold in the 65 kg category, marking Bihar’s first gold medal. Gold medals were also won by Hamam Hussain of Jammu and Kashmir in 97 kg, Rohan Doddamani of Karnataka in 60 kg, and Piyush Gujjar of Himachal Pradesh in 87 kg.
 
In men’s football league matches, West Bengal defeated Tamil Nadu by nine goals to nil in Group A, while Goa beat Mizoram by four goals to one in Group B.
 
Karnataka continues to lead the medal tally with 17 gold and 6 silver medals. Odisha is in second place with 9 gold and 4 silver medals, followed by Arunachal Pradesh with 6 gold and 1 silver medal.
