Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya announced that Khelo India Northeast Games will be introduced in the future to develop emerging sports talents in the region. Addressing a session during the Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025 in New Delhi on Saturday, Dr Mandaviya said that the Games will be held every year and feature not just Olympics sports but traditional sports as well.

The Sports Minister further lauded the Khelo India Games, calling it the pathway for India to reach its goal of being a top 10 nation in the Olympics in the next 10 years and a top 5 nation by the next 25 years. He also mentioned that India has started the process to prepare it’s bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games and 2036 Olympics. He assured that India will host many other international tournaments in the future.
