The total area sown under kharif crops in the ongoing current season has increased by around 27 lakh hectares to over one thousand 105 lakh hectares, so far this year. According to data released by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Rice cultivation has seen a significant growth of over 19 lakh hectares to over 438 lakh hectares, compared to 418 lakh hectares during the same period last year. Pulse cultivation has also increased from more 114 lakh hectares to over 116 lakh hectares. The Coarse cereals were sown over 191 lakh hectares, while the Oilseeds were sown around 187 lakh hectares.
