In Keralam, all arrangements have been completed for the counting of votes polled in the Assembly elections held across 140 constituencies on April 9. Chief Electoral Officer Rathan U. Kelkar informed that counting will begin at 8 am on Monday at 140 counting centres, set up across 43 locations. A total of 15,465 officials, including Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers, micro observers, counting supervisors and assistants, will be deployed for the exercise.
Postal ballots will be taken up first, followed by the counting of votes recorded in Electronic Voting Machines. Strong rooms where polling materials are kept will be opened in the presence of candidates or their authorised representatives, election observers and officials, with the entire process being videographed. Strict restrictions have been imposed inside counting halls, and unauthorised persons will not be permitted inside.
