Kerala Legislative Assembly disrupted as opposition protests over Sabarimala gold case

In Thiruvananthapuram, proceedings of the Kerala Legislative Assembly were repeatedly disrupted today as the opposition staged protests over the Sabarimala gold case. Watch and Ward removed an opposition MLA who attempted to jump onto the Speaker’s dais. Meanwhile, two opposition MLAs continued a sit-in protest in front of the Assembly building, demanding the resignation of Devaswom Minister M.B. Rajesh.

Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan alleged that the accused in the case are securing statutory bail due to lapses and delays in the inquiry. He claimed the investigation had failed to make meaningful progress. Responding to the allegations, Minister Rajesh accused the opposition of disrupting the House without even submitting an adjournment motion on the issue. He said that the inquiry is progressing and being conducted under the supervision of the High Court.
