Kerala is celebrating its Formation Day today, marking the creation of the state on this day in 1956, with the merger of the Travancore, Cochin, and Malabar regions. Various programmes are being organised across the state as part of the celebrations, including a special session of the State Legislative Assembly.
In a significant announcement, the Kerala government will declare the eradication of extreme poverty in the state during a function today. In his greetings on Kerala Statehood Day, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar called upon the people to contribute to the state’s prosperity, foster social harmony, and promote the Malayalam language.
