In Karnataka, three newly appointed police sub-inspectors were killed and two others injured when their car collided with a 16-wheeler truck on the Bengaluru-Ballari highway in Chitradurga district this morning. The officers were en route to attend a function in Ballari when their car crashed into the truck, dragging the vehicle for nearly 300 metres. State Home Minister G. Parameshwara, who visited the site, confirmed that an investigation is underway. He assured that the government would provide compensation to the families of the deceased.
