Karnataka HC dismisses petition seeking CBI probe in MUDA case

The Dharwad bench of Karnataka High Court has dismissed a petition seeking a CBI probe in the MUDA case against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his wife B M Parvathy. Justice M Nagaprasanna today dismissed the petition filed by Mysuru-based social activist Snehamayi Krishna. The bench has ruled out any irregularities in the probe by Lokayukta looking into the allotment of 14 housing sites to the Chief Minister’s wife Parvathi as compensation for the parcel of land acquired by MUDA in Mysuru. The Lokayukta police that is probing the case against Siddaramaiah, his wife and brother-in-law, had submitted documents related to the MUDA case before the High Court in a sealed cover. During the hearing, Maninder Singh who is the senior advocate appearing for the petitioner contended that the CBI probe was essential to ensure impartial investigation in the MUDA case as Lokayukta faces administrative and political compulsions.
