Kargil Shuts Down on KDA Call, Demands Sixth Schedule; DM Imposes Restrictions

In Ladakh, Kargil today observed a complete shutdown on the call of the Kargil Democratic Alliance in support of its four-point agenda, with the demand for inclusion of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution as the main issue. Shops, markets, transport and business establishments remained closed, bringing life to a standstill across the district.

Meanwhile, the District Magistrate Kargil, Shri Rakesh Kumar, has imposed prohibitory restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to maintain peace and order. The order prohibits processions, rallies, and unlawful assemblies without prior permission, while strict action has been warned against violations.
