Joint Operations in Assam Lead to Arrest of ULFA(I) Member, OGWs and Drug Dealers

In Assam, security forces have apprehended one ULFA (I) cadre, ten Over Ground Workers (OGWs), and four drug dealers with links to anti-national elements during a series of joint operations conducted in April 2026.

The Indian Army’s Red Shield Gunners, under the aegis of Spear Corps, in coordination with Assam Police, carried out these operations in the Upper Assam districts of Tinsukia, Charaideo, and Sivasagar. Narcotics were also recovered during the operations. A press release issued by the Indian Army said the coordinated efforts highlight the effectiveness of joint operations in countering anti-national activities and disrupting support networks in the region.

It added that sustained and synergised action by the Indian Army and Assam Police continues to play a crucial role in curbing the recruitment of local youth into anti-national groups and in strengthening the social fabric across Upper Assam.
