In Jammu and Kashmir the State Election Commission has convened a high-level meeting today to review revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll-2026 and assess progress on delimitation of Urban Local Bodies. The meeting is scheduled to be held via videoconferencing, with senior officials from the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department attending. All Deputy Commissioners have been directed to participate. The review comes at a time when all three tiers of Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies in the Union Territory remain non-existent.
