In Jammu and Kashmir, the Directorate of School Education Jammu has announced that all government and recognised private schools in the Jammu Division that are still closed will reopen on May 19, 2025. In a notice to Zonal Education Officers, the department stressed the need to strictly follow safety guidelines. School heads have been told to work closely with local authorities and police to ensure a safe and smooth reopening. The Directorate also urged schools to maintain a positive learning environment and to stay alert in following all necessary safety measures for students and staff.
Earlier, schools across Jammu, including in sensitive border areas, reopened yesterday. This includes schools in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch, and Udhampur, marking an important step toward returning to normal after recent tensions along the India-Pakistan border. Schools in non-border districts like Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi, and Ramban had already resumed classes on May 13, following a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan on May 10.
