In Jammu and Kashmir, the Rajouri District Administration has ordered an immediate two-month suspension of all Virtual Private Network (VPN) services across the district, citing public safety concerns. The directive, issued by District Magistrate Abhishek Sharma under Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, follows a report from the Senior Superintendent of Police about unusual and suspicious use of VPNs. Authorities say VPNs are being exploited to mask identities, bypass restrictions, and potentially coordinate unlawful or anti-national activities. The order aims to prevent cybersecurity threats and maintain public order. Police have been directed to ensure strict enforcement.
