J&K: IMD fresh advisory predicts cloudbursts, flash floods, landslides at many vulnerable places

 
In Jammu and Kashmir, the local Meteorological department today forecast ‘heavy to very heavy’ rains over multiple districts of the Union Territory from late night today which according to officials may trigger cloudbursts, flash floods, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones like situation at many vulnerable places. Our Jammu Correspondent reports that the MeT department in its fresh advisory predicted a brief spell of light rain/intense showers toward late afternoon today at few places of J&K. It said that a fresh spell of heavy rain over few districts of Jammu division towards late night today and early morning of September 2. From September 2-3, there will be generally cloudy with one or two spells of light to moderate rain/thunder at many places with possibility of ‘heavy to very heavy’ rain over Kathua, Jammu, Udhampur and Reasi with ‘moderate to heavy’ rainfall over Doda, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Kishtwar, Anantnag and Kulgam mainly towards late night of September 2 and early morning of September 3 till late afternoon. From September 4-7, there is a possibility of rain/thunder at a few places in J&K. The weather department said in the meanwhile there is a possibility of cloudbursts, flash floods, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones at many vulnerable places besides, rise in water level in rivers. The general public has been advised to stay away from water bodies, nallas, river embankments and loose structures etc.
