In Jammu and Kashmir, ahead of the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026, the army organised a training programme for Village Defence Groups in the Ramban district to enhance local security, improve preparedness and strengthen coordination with residents along the pilgrimage route. The initiative focused on boosting vigilance, emergency response capabilities and community coordination to help ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage for devotees travelling to the holy Amarnath cave shrine.
The training programme aims to create stronger cooperation between security agencies and local communities while reinforcing safety measures across vulnerable areas during the yatra period. The training drive in Ramban forms part of broader preparations being undertaken to ensure the peaceful and secure conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
