In Jammu and Kashmir, the four-day-long 6th National Rafting Championship, titled “The Ultimate River Battle”, concluded with a grand closing ceremony at Shibnote (Premnagar) in Doda district today. Participants and adventure enthusiasts from across Jammu & Kashmir and other parts of the country took part. Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Jammu, including many senior officers attended the ceremony. Earlier, the dignitaries undertook a 15-km rafting expedition from Shibnote to Karara, highlighting the Chenab River’s adventure potential. The championship saw BSF men’s and women’s teams winning top honours, with other winners felicitated with mementoes and cash prizes. Three women’s teams participated in the championship, whose enthusiastic involvement reflects growing inclusivity and the increasing presence of women in competitive rafting at the national level.
