J&K: 3 dead, dozen injured as tempo falls into gorge near Doda

In Jammu and Kashmir, the death toll in the tragic road accident in the Ponda area of Doda district has risen to five. A 5-year-old child has been referred to the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu due to critical injuries, while 11 others are currently under treatment at a local hospital. The accident occurred when a tempo traveller skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge along the Doda-Barath road near Ponda, located around 25 km from Doda town. The vehicle was carrying multiple passengers when it lost control, resulting in the fatal mishap. The rescue operations led by local police, SDRF teams, and volunteers concluded, and the authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased and assured that any further assistance required will be promptly arranged. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has also condoled the loss of lives in the tragic road accident.

 

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. He said that the administration has been directed to ensure immediate medical assistance and support to all affected.
