Jharkhand has recorded major expansion and modernisation of railway infrastructure through enhanced budgetary support, network expansion, station redevelopment and complete electrification. Addressing the media via video conferencing, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, the initiatives are aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’. The annual railway budget allocation for Jharkhand has increased nearly 16-fold, from an average of 457 crore rupees during 2009-14 to 7,536 crore rupees in 2026-27. Railway projects worth 63,470 crore rupees are currently underway across the state, covering new track construction, station redevelopment and safety-related works. Under the Amrit Station Scheme, 57 railway stations in Jharkhand are being redeveloped, with eight stations already completed. The expansion of premium train services, including Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat Express, has further strengthened rail connectivity and passenger facilities in the state.
