The Jharkhand High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the rape and murder of a minor in Kosumbha village under the Vishnugarh block of Hazaribagh district, terming the incident heinous and a blot on humanity. Protests erupted across Hazaribagh, Jamshedpur, Lohardaga, and Simdega, where BJP workers demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and strict punishment. Hazaribagh MP Manish Jaiswal and MLA Purnima Sahu, among others, questioned the state government’s functioning and demanded capital punishment for the accused. Yesterday, Union Minister Annapurna Devi met the victim’s family, assured justice, and called for the swift arrest of those responsible.
