Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi on Three-Day India Visit, Explores Delhi Metro Project

Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi today took a ride on the Delhi Metro. During the metro ride, he was accompanied by Japanese Ambassador to India Ono Keiichi. Senior officials of DMRC briefed the delegation about the Delhi Metro project at the Central Secretariat metro station, followed by a train ride to Patel Chowk and back.

 

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, DMRC, in a social media post, said that during his visit, the Japanese Foreign Minister showed keen interest about various aspects of the construction and operation of the Delhi Metro, which is a proud symbol of Indo-Japanese friendship and collaboration.

 

The Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA, has extended financial support to the Delhi Metro project since Phase 1. Earlier in the day, he visited Raj Ghat and offered tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Mr Motegi had arrived in New Delhi on Thursday, on a three-day visit.
