Jaipur Hospital Fire: Superintendent, Nodal Officer Removed; FIR Against Safety Firm

The Rajasthan government has taken stern action following today’s fire incident at the Trauma Centre of Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur. The state government has removed Dr. Sushil Bhati, Superintendent of SMS Hospital, and Dr. Anurag Dhakad, Nodal Officer of the Trauma Centre, from their posts. Executive Engineer Mukesh Singhal has been suspended.
 
 
The government has also cancelled the contract of Company, the agency responsible for fire safety, and ordered registration of an FIR against company. Dr. Mrinal Joshi has been assigned the charge of Superintendent of SMS Hospital. 
 
 
Earlier today, Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar visited the Trauma Centre to inspect the situation. Expressing grief over the tragic incident that claimed six lives, he conveyed condolences to the bereaved families. The Minister reviewed the site and instructed the high-level committee to conduct a thorough inquiry and submit its report at the earliest.
 
 
He also directed the hospital administration to restore the damaged ICU at the earliest and ensure alternate arrangements for patients in the meantime. Talking to the media, the Health Minister assured that all aspects of the incident would be examined in detail and strict action would be taken against those found guilty.
