In Italy, eight people had injured after a man drove his car into pedestrians in the northern city of Modena. Four people got seriously injured, including a woman whose both legs were crushed in the incident. After the car came to a halt, the driver allegedly stabbed a passerby. The suspect, aged 31, has been identified by officials as an Italian national of Moroccan origin. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has described the incident as “extremely serious”.
In a social media post, she expressed her closeness to the injured people and their families. She thanked the citizens who bravely intervened to stop the perpetrator and to the law enforcement agencies for their response. Ms Meloni also spoke with the Mayor and said that she remains in constant contact with the authorities to follow the developments of the situation.
