Israel Defence Forces carried out airstrikes in Gaza, killing nine people, after accusing Hamas of violating a US-brokered ceasefire. The strikes followed Prime Minister Netanyahu’s order for forceful action.
According to Israeli officials, Hamas attacked troops near the Rafah area with rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) and sniper fire. Defence Minister Israel Katz warned Hamas would pay a heavy price.
Soon after, Israeli airstrikes hit Gaza City’s Al-Sabra neighbourhood and Khan Younis. Hamas has denied attacking Israeli forces and accused Israel of breaching the truce.
