The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) today said that the Commander of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), Abu Hamza Rami, has been killed in Beirut, the capital city of Lebanon. In a statement, the IDF said that Abu Hamza Rami’s elimination has significantly degraded PIJ’s ability to carry out operations against Israel.

IDF further said that Abu Hamza Rami carried out hundreds of attacks against IDF troops and Israeli civilians, including recruiting and training attackers and procuring weapons. In another strike, the Israeli forces also killed the head of Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters, Hussein Makled, in Beirut. The IDF said in a statement that these strikes from Israel came in response to recent rockets fired from Lebanon to Israel.
