Ireland Deputy Ambassador Hails Hornbill Festival as Celebration of Naga Identity and Culture

In Nagaland, Deputy Ambassador, Embassy of Ireland, Raymond Mullen has described Hornbill Festival as more than a celebration, calling it a declaration of identity, creativity, culture, and confidence.
 
Speaking on the 2nd day of the International Hornbill Festival Mon Edition 2025 at Konyak Heritage Complex today, he said the event showcases Nagaland as the world now sees it – rooted, vibrant, outward-looking, and full of possibilities.
 
Appreciating the rich culture and traditions of the Konyak tribe, who inhabit Mon district, Mr Mullen said the festival inspires creativity and cultural preservation.
 
Highligting the shared instincts between Ireland and Nagaland, he expressed hope for futher collaborations in education, sports, business and people-to-people exchanges.
 
Highlights of the day included vibrant cultural performances from various local troupes as well as from Assam, alongside indigenous games.
 
Meanwhile, the penultimate day of Hornbill Festival 2025 continued to draw visitors in large numbers at Naga Heritage Village, in Kisama, with colourful displays of cultural dance and music.
