The Ministry of Women and Child Development today organised a women-led Shakti Walk in New Delhi on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi, Minister of State Savitri Thakur and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, among others participated in the walk.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Annpurna Devi said that women across various sectors have participated in the event, reflecting the commitment of women-led development in every field.
The Minister also highlighted that women will play an important role in India’s journey of Viksit Bharat.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasised that women play an effective role across various fields including startups to space missions. She said that the day marks the importance for making future plans for enhancing women’s contribution in the nation’s progress.
The Shakti Walk covered an approximate two-kilometre stretch from India Gate to Vijay Chowk along Kartavya Path in the national capital.
During the walk, participants from various Ministries and other sectors walked together under the theme of She Leads Bharat, highlighting women’s role in shaping a progressive and inclusive India.
