World Chess Champion D. Gukesh defeated Spain’s David Anton Guijarro in the ninth and final round of the Masters section at the Prague International Chess Festival in the Czech Republic yesterday.
After earlier draws and three losses, the Indian ace finished tied for ninth with 3.5 points, the same as Guijarro.
India’s Aravindh Chithambaram claimed joint second with 5 points after beating Czech Grandmaster David Navara in the final round.
In the Challengers section, India’s Divya Deshmukh defeated Czech player Hrbek Stepan to secure third place with 5 points.
