University Grants Commission (UGC) has requested institutions to organise programmes, conferences and seminars for girl students and women employees. In a statement, the UGC said the move is in line with the National Education Policy, 2020, to promote gender sensitisation, leadership development, and awareness on issues related to women’s empowerment.
It said that enhancing women’s participation in higher education is not only a matter of equality but also a strategic imperative for accelerating India’s growth story. The Commission underscored the need to create an accessible ecosystem for women in learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship to ensure their contribution to nation-building.
