Inqilab Moncho has warned of launching a movement to topple the Yunus-led interim government if justice is not ensured for the killing of its spokesperson, Sharif Osman bin Hadi. He said the people stay on the streets until the perpetrators and their alleged backers are brought to book.
The warning came from the platform’s Member Secretary, Abdullah Al Jaber, at an emergency press conference held at Shaheed Hadi Chattar in Dhaka. He said a 24-hour ultimatum issued during Hadi’s namaz-e-janaza had expired without any visible action from the home adviser or law enforcement agencies to arrest the accused.
Jaber accused the authorities of negligence and evasion of responsibility, alleging that the absence of key advisers at official briefings showed a lack of seriousness over the murder. Jaber added that no election can take place without justice for Hadi, warning that attempts to proceed with polls without accountability would be resisted.
Announcing a protest procession and further street programmes, Inqilab Moncho said it would decide whether to continue supporting the interim government or initiate a movement to oust it, reiterating its resolve to remain mobilised until justice is delivered.
