As a demonstration of India’s steadfast dedication to eradicating terrorism, the seven multiparty parliamentary delegations are engaged in high-level discussions during their official visits abroad. The delegation led by DMK MP K Kanimozhi met with senior officials from Greece’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Deputy Minister Tasos Chatzivasileiou, key members of the Greek Parliament, leading policy experts, and the media. In a focused session with members of the Greece-India Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Committee on Defence and Foreign Affairs, the Indian delegation underscored New Delhi’s uncompromising approach toward terrorism. They firmly conveyed that there can be no differentiation between terrorist actors and those who abet or shelter them. The Indian side called for Greece’s backing in ensuring accountability for those who orchestrate, carry out, or fund such acts of violence.
During the meeting with Deputy Minister Chatzivasileiou, the delegation provided a comprehensive briefing on the brutal terrorist strike in Pahalgam, detailing India’s proportionate and restrained reaction. They emphasised India’s unwavering
determination to eliminate the scourge of terrorism through strategic and deliberate measures.
In Rome, the all party delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad held a meeting with the President of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee of the Senate, Stefania Craxi. The delegation further interacted with the India-Italy Parliamentary Friendship Group, chaired by Senator Giulio Terzi di Sant’Agata in Rome. Talking to the media, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said, there was a commonality of understanding about India and Italy regarding the cancer of global terror. He added that India and Italy have a good relationship with each other.
The all-party Parliamentary delegation led by Sanjay Kumar Jha held an insightful interaction with scholars and researchers from Indonesia-based think tanks and academia in Jakarta. It conveyed a strong and unified message of zero tolerance for cross-border terrorism to maintain peace and regional stability and sought to jointly explore ways to combat this menace.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is leading an all-party delegation in Panama today, reaffirmed India’s firm stance against terrorism and underlined that the country will not turn the other cheek and will respond to any further attack. Speaking at an event organised by the Indian Embassy in Panama, Mr Tharoor said, the ghastly terror attack in Pahalgam was in pursuance of a cynical set of objectives that the Pakistani military wants to pursue to undermine the Kashmiri economy, which was booming with tourism and also India.
The all-party delegation led by NCP (SCP) MP Supriya Sule is on a three-day visit to South Africa from the 27th of this month. They held interactions with South African interlocutors in Cape Town. The delegation engaged with Deputy Minister in the Presidency, South Africa, Kenneth Morolong and conveyed India’s counter-terrorism stance. The Deputy Minister took note of the matter and said it would be brought to the attention of the South African Presidency.
Another delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda had extensive discussions with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Adel Bin Ahmed al-Jubeir. The Indian delegation appreciated the support received from the political leadership in Saudi Arabia in condemning the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. They underlined the importance of coordinated action against terrorism, dismantling terrorist infrastructure, and denying safe havens. They highlighted the “new normal’ in India’s approach to terrorism.
The multi-party delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde has reached Sierra Leone after concluding their visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
