In shooting, Indian shooters added two more gold medals today, taking the country’s gold tally to 39 at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship in New Delhi.
Prachi Gaikwad clinched the gold medal in the junior women’s 50 metre rifle three-position final with a score of 353.3 points. Kazakhstan’s Tomiris Amanova won silver with 351.4 points, while India’s Anushka Thokur secured bronze with a score of 341.1 points after 34 shots.
In the team event, the Indian trio of Prachi Gaikwad, Anushka Thokur, and Hazel delivered another gold in the junior women’s 50 metre rifle three position category, posting a combined total of 1,748 points.
In Women’s category, India’s Aakriti Dahiya clinched the silver medal in the women’s 50-metre rifle three position event with a score of 354.2 points, finishing four points behind Kazakhstan’s Sofiya Shulzhenko, who won the gold and India’s Anjum Moudgil secured the bronze medal with a score of 340.4 points.
Meanwhile, the Indian team of Aakriti Dahiya, Anjum Moudgil, and Aashi Chouksey claimed silver in the women’s 50-metre rifle three-position team event with a combined score of 1,756 points. Kazakhstan bagged the gold medal with a total score of 1,760 points.
With seven days of competition completed, India’s overall medal tally rose to 66 medals, including 39 gold, 15 silver, and 12 bronze, comfortably leading the medal table.
