Indian Railways has upgraded the status of the Bateshwar halt station, the birthplace of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, to a crossing station.
The Ministry of Railways has approved the proposal of Agra Division to convert Bateshwar to a ‘B’ class crossing station from a ‘D’ class halt station.
The Ministry said that Bateshwar is located in the Bhandai-Udimore section, between Bah and Fatehabad stations. Bateshwar is also known for its ancient heritage, including the historic Shiv temples situated along the Yamuna riverbank, and hosting the Bateshwar Pashu Mela.
