Under the policy, 10 per cent horizontal reservation in Level-2 and above posts and 20 per cent in Level-1 posts has been provisioned for ex-servicemen. In addition, five per cent reservation in Level-2 and above posts and 10 per cent in Level-1 posts has been earmarked for ex-agniveers.
The Ministry of Railways informed that during 2024 and 2025, a total of 14 thousand 7 hundred 88 posts were reserved for ex-servicemen in railway notifications, including 6 thousand 4 hundred 85 posts in Level-1 and eight thousand 303 in Level-2 and above categories.
To promote faster engagement, ex-servicemen will be recruited as Pointsmen on a contract basis until regular recruitment is completed. More than five thousand Level-1 posts areunder process, with nine Divisions signing MoUs with Army organisations.
The framework strengthens structured engagement of veterans while supporting national infrastructure and security coordination. The framework promotes structured engagement of ex-servicemen and ex-agniweers within the existing recruitment system and strengthens long-term collaboration.
