Indian Railways delivered a first full rake of 42 wagons carrying more than two thousand seven hundred metric tonnes of rice to Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir on 22th of this month. Railways Ministry in a statement said that this delivery marks a milestone in freight transportation to the Kashmir Valley. This demonstrates the strength of all-weather rail connectivity in the region, ensuring a reliable supply of food grains at lower logistics costs amid adverse weather. The rake was loaded from Sangrur rail terminal in Punjab on 21 January and transported to Anantnag within 24 hours. Its successful handling has significantly boosted the food grain supply chain and distribution network in the valley.
