Indian Railways has announced the operation of a record number of Holi Special Trains this year. It is to ensure smooth and hassle-free travel for passengers during the festive season. The Ministry of Railways said that to meet the surge in passenger demand, more than 1,410 Holi special trains will be operated across the country, with the number expected to rise to 1,500 services. These special trains will operate mainly during the month of March to improve connectivity between major destinations.
Among the railway zones, the East Central Railway will operate the highest number of services with 285 trains, followed by the Western Railway with 231 and the Central Railway with 209 Holi special trains. The South Central Railway will run 160 services, while the Northern Railway has planned 108 special trains. Other zones, including the North Western, North Central, North Eastern, East Coast, Southern and South Western Railways, will also operate additional services to strengthen regional connectivity during the festival.
