Indian Men’s Hockey Team to Face South Korea in Opening Match of 31st Sultan Azlan Shah Cup

In Hockey, the Indian Men’s team will take on South Korea in the opening match of the 31st Sultan Azlan Shah Cup tournament in Ipoh, Malaysia, today. The match will begin at 1:30 PM Indian Standard Time.  The prestigious invitational tournament will be held on the 30th of this month. This year’s edition will feature India, Belgium, Canada, Korea, New Zealand, and hosts Malaysia, competing in a round-robin format, with the top two teams qualifying for the final.
 
 
Having won the tournament five times, India are the second-most successful team in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup and are set to make their first appearance in the tournament since 2019, when they finished as runners-up. After the first clash against South Korea, the Indian team, led by Sanjay Rana, will face Belgium in their second game tomorrow and then lock horns with Malaysia on the 26th of this month and with New Zealand on the 27th of November.
 
 
India will conclude their league stage campaign against Canada on 2the 9th of November. With India building towards the 2026 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup and the 2026 Asian Games, this tournament provides a platform for competitive preparation while also testing new combinations.
