Indian boxers will begin their campaign at the Asian Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, today. Women boxers Nikhat Zareen, Lovlina Borgohain, Jaismine Lamboria, Ankushita Boro, Arundhati Choudhary, and Alfiya Pathan will advance with byes, the Boxing Federation of India said.
In the women’s draw, Preeti Pawar will face Kazakhstan’s Elina Bazarova in the 54kg bout, while Priya takes on Rimma Volossenko of Kazakhstan in the 60kg category. Minakshi Hooda will meet Japan’s Yuka Sadamatsu, and Pooja Rani faces Nadezhda Ryabets of Kazakhstan.
In the men’s section, Vishvanath Suresh opens against Bekzat Ergeshov of Kyrgyzstan, while Jadumani Singh takes on top seed Rui Yamaguchi of Japan in a tough 55 kg bout. Sachin faces Buyandalai Bayarkhuu of Mongolia, Aditya Pratap Singh meets Mouda Alhawsaw of Saudi Arabia, and Deepak goes up against Khavasbek Asadullaev of Uzbekistan. Ankush and Narender advance with byes, while Akash, Lokesh, and Harsh Choudhary are set for key bouts in their respective categories.
The Championships mark the first major event of the season ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and World Boxing Cup Finals. The finalists will secure direct qualification for both the Commonwealth and Asian Games, according to the Boxing Federation of India’s selection policy. The tournament will also feature several Olympic medallists and rising stars from across Asia.
