Benchmark domestic equity indices ended with marginal gains today. The Sensex gained 314 points, or 0.39 per cent to close at 81 thousand and 101. Similarly, Nifty added 95 points or 0.39 per cent, to settle at 24 thousand 868. The broader market indices at the Bombay Stock Exchange also displayed positive trend. The Mid-Cap index advanced 0.2 per cent, while Small-Cap index rose over 0.2 per cent.
In the Sensex pack, 19 out of 30 companies edged upward. Among the top gainers, Infosys expanded five per cent, Tata Chemical rose over 2.4 percent and Adani Ports 2.4 per cent. Among the top laggards, Trent fell nearly 1.8 per cent, Eternal dipped almost 1.2 per cent and Ultra tech Cement decreased 0.9 per cent.
In Sectoral indices at the BSE, 13 out of 21 sectors logged gains with the IT Pack emerging as the top performer. Focused IT surged almost 2.9 per cent, IT rose nearly 2.8 per cent, and Teck added almost 2.2 per cent. Among the top laggards, Realty and Oil and gas both dipped 0.3 per cent each, Energy lost 0.2 per cent, and Auto slipped over 0.1 per cent.
