At the Asian Youth Games 2025 in Manama, Bahrain, India added two more medals in Kurash, a traditional form of wrestling, taking the tally in the sport to three yesterday.
In the women’s 52 kg category, Kanishka Bidhuri won silver after a hard-fought 3-0 loss to Uzbekistan’s Mubinabonu Karimova in the final. She had earlier won three consecutive bouts to reach the gold medal match.
In the men’s 83 kg category, Arvind secured bronze. He started strong with a 10-0 win over Hilol Davlatzoda of Tajikistan in the quarter-finals but lost to Uzbekistan’s Shohjahon Golibov in the semi-finals by the same score.
As per tournament rules, there were no bronze medal playoffs.
India fielded a four-member kurash team at the Games. Earlier on Sunday, Khushi had opened India’s medal tally in the sport with a bronze in the women’s 70 kg category.
In total, 222 Indian athletes are competing at the Asian Youth Games, which conclude on the 31st of this month.
