India and the United Kingdom have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in artificial intelligence and future telecommunications technologies. On the sidelines of the AI Summit in New Delhi, Minister of State for Communications Dr Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar held a bilateral meeting with UK Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for AI and Online Safety Kanishka Narayan at Dak Bhawan yesterday.
The discussions reviewed progress under the India-UK 2030 Roadmap and the UK-India Technology Security Initiative, focusing on telecommunications, digital innovation and emerging technologies. Both sides also assessed progress under the Department of Telecommunications-DCMS Memorandum of Understanding and welcomed the operationalisation of the India-UK Connectivity and Innovation Centre, endorsed at India Mobile Congress 2025.
Dr Pemmasani emphasised that artificial intelligence will be central to the future of telecommunications. He noted that India’s scale, combined with the United Kingdom’s research strengths, can help shape global standards in AI-native networks, Open RAN and 6G technologies. He also highlighted opportunities for collaboration under India’s National Quantum Mission, particularly in quantum communications and secure networks.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to building secure, trusted and future-ready digital infrastructure through structured institutional engagement.
